Over the Rainbow -- A Solo Piano Epic CD

Red Sky at Night CD

Mike Jensen at the Judy Garland Birthplace

Solo Piano CDs by Michael Jensen

Visitors to the Judy Garland Birthplace are occasionally treated to a live concert by Michael Jensen on the piano in the Gumm family living room. One of those visitors was vocalist Angela Fischetti ("Enter the Light"), who made this comment on Jensen's performance:

"I say this to you from the bottom of my heart, that moment in Judy's house with you beautifully playing 'Over the Rainbow' while I was standing on the very landing she went up and down as a child -- I was looking at her baby photo atop the piano -- will remain one of the most glorious images in my mind for eternity. There were tears in my eyes. Your gift as a pianist is nothing less than extraordinary."

Red Sky at Night CD
"Red Sky at Night" contains sixty minutes of Jensen's solo piano music, including "Stranger on the Shore," "Laura Lee," and the Judy Garland classic, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Made in America
Songs the Gumm Family grew up with in Grand Rapids

Made in America Long before radio, motion pictures or television came along, the main form of entertainment in America was the vaudeville stage. There you could see anything from dancing dogs to the best singers, actors or musicians in the world. From these stages came many of the performers we know and love today. Performers like Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, Fanny Brice, the Marx Brothers, Jack Benny, George Burns and Gracie Allen, and even W. C. Fields, got their start in vaudeville.

From the late 1800s to the early 1930s, thousands of these traveling vaudevillians entertained in theaters across America. One family, by the name of Gumm, performed on some of these stages. While, up to now, not much has been documented on their performances, from these beginnings the youngest of them came to be known as "the greatest entertainer in the world," Judy Garland. This recording is a tribute to vaudeville and to the Gumm family as representatives of that life and the greatness that came from it.

Caren Marsh-Doll: My Life and Moments with Judy Garland

Not everyone gets to meet an official stand-in for a celebrity, but on June 15, 2001, attendees at the Judy Garland Festival did.
Caren Marsh-Doll, a professional dancer and actress, had many fond memories to share about Judy and her work with MGM. She also worked with Judy Garland in the Hollywood musicals "Babes in Arms" and "Girl Crazy."
This is a wonderful bit of historical information that is invaluable to any Judy collector. Find out what it was really like to work with MGM and what went into the show -- "The Wizard of Oz."

Margaret Hamilton: An Evening with the Wicked Witch of the West

On June 19, 1979, Margaret Hamilton, who played the infamous "Wicked Witch of the West" in the 1939 MGM film version of "The Wizard of Oz," spoke to a packed house at the first Judy Garland Festival.
Hamilton spoke openly and lovingly of her relationship with Judy Garland. She detailed much of the happenings surrounding the making of "the Wizard of Oz" film, clarified misconceptions about the Munchkins and shed light on life at MGM and her personal acting career.
This CD contains some of Hamilton's final words, as her death prevented her return to Grand Rapids.
